TENAFLY — The Tenafly Rotary Club has been organizing a bike donation event with Pedals for Progress for five years.
On May 3, the Rotary Club teamed with the Rotary Interactive Club of Tenafly High School and Pedals for Progress came together to host this event for a great cause.

They held a table at the corner of Franklin Street in Tenafly from 1 to 4 p.m. for old bicycles to be donated for shipment to third world countries as transportation for poverty families.
Eric Neiman, 14, from North Caldwell was one of the volunteers from the Pedals for Progress program.
"I have been a part of Pedals for Progress for two years now and it’s a great program to be a part of. What the program does is attend sites where old bicycles are being donated," said Neiman. "Then we break down the bikes for shipment and at the end of the day, our truck will come to collect the bikes to take them to the warehouse where then they can be shipped to a third world country. This week’s focus is shipping bikes to Ghana."
Having this community service for the Borough is a way to bring people together and make a difference in someone’s life.
Martin Huguley, president of the Tenafly Rotary Club, coordinated this event. He has been involved in the Rotary Club for 12 years and continues to work with Pedals for Progress programs as well as coordinating other community service events.
The May 3 event had a large turnout of volunteers and donations of bikes for the cause.
