Haworth — A 43-year-old Haworth woman was sentenced to a year in jail for embezzling more than $300,000 from a Tenafly landscaping company.
Lisa Boyd was also handed five years probation and restitution in the amount of $137,580.95 to former employer Peter Beucler of Beucler Tree Services, according to court records.

A former secretary at Beucler Tree Services, Boyd pleaded guilty to one count of second degree theft April 18 before Superior Court Judge Patrick Roma.
Police arrested the woman in October 2006 after the employer told police it suspected Boyd was stealing checks and money from the company.
According to a November 2006 police report, Boyd was believed to have taken 39 company checks totaling $111,000 and then issued payments to herself, her husband and other accounts.
Assistant Prosecutor David Yucht said that Boyd was later charged with the theft of $302,580.65 during her three-year employment with the company from 2003-2006. The Haworth woman made an initial $100,000 payment last fall, followed by a $65,000 payment this month, Yucht said.
A current employee of Beucler Tree Services who asked that her name be withheld said that Boyd reportedly stole an average $2,000 a week of company funds. The employee then said that she discovered wrongdoing after a company bank statement listed a check made out to Boyd’s personal travel agency.
"She took her family to Mexico with that money," said the Beucler employee.
If the ex-secretary pays the owner the remaining balance, said Yucht, Boyd could make a motion to the court to lesson her sentence.
