The art of fifth to eighth grade Tenakill Middle School art students is on display at the Belskie Museum in Closter until May 4. Joann Puleo, Tenakill’s art teacher, organized the show. Drawings, paintings, watercolor, mixed media art and small sculptures are on display in this sixth annual exhibition in which the museum is featuring the school.

Puleo said about 600 students are represented. The older grades did fashion design and bamboo painting displays, the seventh-graders did math-related art projects and cartoons, sixth-graders have sculptures and drawings of cats and dogs on exhibit and the fifth-graders created gremlins and fanciful creatures.

"They love it," said Puleo of the students’ reaction to having their work displayed in a museum. "After the exhibit is up I take the classes up [to see it] and we talk more about art critique and art appreciation," she said.

Exhibit hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Belskie Museum of Art and Science is located adjacent to the Closter Library at 280 High St., Closter, NJ 07624. For more information, call 201-768-0286 or visit www.belskiemuseum.com.
