Volunteers at Madeleine’s Petit Paris Restaurant, 416 Tappan Road in Northvale, get their heads shaved to raise money for kids with cancer.

It is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising event where volunteers request donations after shaving their heads in an act of solidarity for children with cancer. Created eight years ago, St. Baldrick’s events have raised over $34 million in over 18 countries.

Held on St. Patrick’s Day, a total of 15 people shaved their heads, including owner and Chef Gespard Caloz and his staff. Volunteer hairstylists Sharon Flesche of salon Headlines by Pantana in Northvale and Selena Piazza of Razzmatazz Unisex Salon in Central Nyack performed the hair-raising cuts.

As many as 60 people attended the event, including Mayor John Hogan and his family. The restaurant served complimentary corned beef and cabbage in honor of the Irish holiday.
