Tenafly police have identified Ronald Garafalo, 53, as the man who allegedly removed $800 from a car parked in the Tenafly Racquet Club lot.

If you have any information about Garafalo’s whereabouts call the Tenafly Police Department at 201-568-5100.

Capt. James Goxen said authorities have issued a warrant for Garafalo’s arrest.

Police said that it was the "good quality" video surveillance and the help of an Englewood Police Department detective that lead them to identify Garafalo. The Englewood detective recognized the man’s photograph in a bulletin that was sent out.

The racquet club’s video surveillance captured the scene.

"What he did was go into the Tenafly Racquet Club and sat in a chair were a black leather coat was hanging," Foxen said. While in the chair, police said, Garafalo "acted like he was on his cellphone," while reaching into the coat pockets, removing the automatic car keys.

Video surveillance tracked Garafalo as he walked outside to the parking lot and began pressing the key’s buttons to locate the car. Garafalo then opened the car and is alleged to have removed the wallet taking $800, police said.

Garafalo didn’t keep the wallet; instead he tossed it underneath another car, police said, adding that this was all captured from the club’s surveillance.

Police believe the suspect’s last known address is in Passaic.
