Cresskill School District Superintendent Charles Khoury announced that the school district would likely switch over to a new Web site in July.
Khoury made the announcement at the Jan. 10 shared services meeting as part of a collaborative effort with the Cresskill’s municipal government to create a comprehensive Web site for the community.
Assistant to the Superintendent Debra Rinaldi delivered a presentation on Community Pass, which is a Web-based registration service for communities that includes Hillsdale, Ridgewood and Old Tappan.
As a user of the Web service, Rinaldi said the site facilitates access to signup forms for sports, camp and dog licensing. The assistant to the superintendent gave a step-by-step walkthrough of the Web site, jumping to an online form for emergency school information and links to the Chamber of Commerce and employment opportunities within the town.
"I think it’s real positive and people in the town would see the same look," Khoury said.
The school district already pays $6,000 annually to host its current Web site, he said.
If the officials decide to share services with the school district, Khoury said that there would be some fee involved to the municipality. The cost to pay for the server space and updates, he imagined, would not be much more than the current pricing.
"Given what people charge for this stuff, none of these fees are outrageous," Khoury said.
Borough Council members John McCann and Thomas Thomasma nodded their heads in agreement.
McCann promised at the meeting to "send a memo to get the other council members to think about" using the same Web service.
