Closter

Students show adults computers
Northern Valley Regional High School seniors participating in the Senior Service Project will be doing community service at the Closter Public Library. They will be tutoring adults on the use of computers.
The NVRHS seniors will be available to teach adults one-on-one at the library from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Call the Closter Public Library at 201-768-4197 to explain what you want to learn about using the computer. The staff will try to match you with a student who will be able to help you learn more about the computer, Internet searching, word processing, setting up an e-mail account, etc.
The Closter Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Story time weekly at library
The Closter Public Library has story time every week with books for the children to share, songs to sing and a craft to make.
Classes are Monday at 10 a.m. for almost 3 and 4-year-olds with an adult, Thursday at 10 a.m. for 2, 3 and 4-year-olds with an adult and Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds with or without an adult.

Piano now available at library
Musical programs requiring a piano may now be performed at the Closter Public Library.
The estate of Nina Mae Yale donated an audio-visual system and baby grand piano to the library’s community room.
The library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Cresskill

Library receives ESL books through grant
The Cresskill Public Library, 53 Union Ave., received a Verizon grant to purchase books for the ESL program at the library.
The New Jersey State Library partnered with New Jersey Verizon, Verizon Telecom Pioneers and the Verizon Foundation to sponsor a Walk for Literacy to support Adult Basic Literacy and English as a Second Language initiatives in New Jersey Public Libraries. All proceeds were used to purchase a selection of adult basic literacy materials.
As part of the first 100 public libraries that submitted a grant application to the New Jersey State Library and that qualified for Per Capita State Aid, the Cresskill Public Library received the following selection of materials: "Stories We Brought with Us: Beginning Readings" by Carol Kasser, "Our Own Journeys; Readings for Cross-Cultural Communication" by Norine Dresser; "The Slangman Guide to Street Speak/CD;" "ABC Pronunciary American English Pronunciation Dictionary DVD" and other selected works.
These materials will be used to further enhance the many ESL one-to-one and classroom instruction sessions offered at the library.
