Edna Cadmus, Ph.D, RN, CNAA, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, was recognized with the "Diva and Don Award" by The Institute for Nursing at its annual Diva & Don Gala recently. The award is given yearly to individuals who have made contributions to nursing excellence.
"We’re very proud of Edna’s accomplishments here, including this award," said Douglas A. Duchak, president and CEO of Englewood Hospital. "Under her leadership, Englewood Hospital has received the Magnet Nursing Award twice — the ultimate recognition in nursing excellence. Edna has also worked with her colleagues to implement numerous programs at the Medical Center that focus on patient care and nursing excellence."
Among the newest programs implemented under Cadmus’ leadership, is the Transforming Care at the Bedside project sponsored by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Englewood Hospital is one of two hospitals in New Jersey participating in this project.
Cadmus has also developed unique partnerships in academia that bring practice and education together under one roof. Some examples are the on-site Ramapo College/Englewood Hospital Generic BSN program and the on-site William Paterson University Masters’ Program for Nursing Administration that began in September. She has worked diligently to earn several grants for the Medical Center as well.
Cadmus has also made contributions throughout the state with her leadership roles and research projects. She was recently sworn in as President of the Organization of Nurse Executives (ONE) New Jersey. Cadmus led a major research project: "New Jersey Nurses Readiness for Evidence-Based Practice" for ONE/New Jersey. The project received an AONE seed grant and will be presented at the AONE conference in April. Also, Cadmus is a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, New Jersey State Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
