Nov. 1
Woman’s club hosts beefsteak dinner
HAWORTH — There will be a second annual beefsteak dinner Saturday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Haworth.
The event, which benefits scholarships and local charities, includes a door prize, 50/50 raffle and gift basket raffle. Tickets are $30 per person.

Nov. 3
Learn the scoop about voiceovers
TENAFLY — You might think that it would be next to impossible to break into the field of voiceovers, but it’s not. Learn exciting new ways to get around the competition and how to turn voiceovers into a thriving full- or part-time business at JCC on the Palisades, 411 East Clinton Ave.
Dan Levine, commercial producer and Tony Award nominated Broadway Composer, will discuss the business as a whole, the opportunities that exist and the incredible income potential. He will discuss the "Demo" and how to produce it. You will step up to the mic and do some practice recording and hear the results.
The program will be Monday, Nov. 3 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $18 for JCC members and $22 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 27.

Nov. 4
Autumn mini-camp offered for kids
TENAFLY — The Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave., is a place for children to have fun while learning about the environment during school vacations.
A professional environmental educator will teach children about the environment using crafts, stories games and exploration of our woods and trails during the vacation mini-camp Nov. 4, 6 and 7.
Pre-K and kindergarten students will attend from 9 a.m. to noon and first- through fifth-graders will attend from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Children should bring a refillable water bottle (no soda or drink boxes), snack, a lunch (first through fifth only) and should wear layers of warm clothes. The program will be held rain or shine. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Family membership is required for the three-day camp; nonmembers should add $50 to camp fee. The pre-K and kindergarten camp fee is $75; or one-day session is $30 for members and $50 for nonmembers. First- through fifth-graders’ camp fee is $150; one-day session is $60 for members and $90 for nonmembers.

Nov. 6
Woman’s Club seeks local members
ENGLEWOOD — President Joan Van Alstyne Johnson of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Englewood invites all local women to join the Woman’s Club. Meetings are held in the historic clubhouse located at 187 Brinckerhoff Court, Englewood. The club is open to all local women who are looking to form new friendships and find a special niche or pet project of interest to them.
The club’s departments include art, music, conservation and garden, education, home life, international affairs, creative arts, literature, performing arts, public affairs and social services. Plans are underway for the club’s annual fall fundraiser.
The group is hosting an event, which is open to the public, Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. A trip to the Bronx Botanical Gardens to visit "Kuku-Chrysanthemum Art of Japan" includes a show and floral Exhibit. Nov. 8
Rummage sale fundraiser set
NORTHVALE — A rummage sale will be held Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northvale Senior Center, 116 Paris Ave., to benefit a local non-profit preschool.
Anyone wishing to donate items to the sale can drop them off at St. Anthony’s Church, 199 Walnut St., Northvale Monday, Nov. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Residents can go to annual country fair
TENAFLY — The Church of the Atonement will hold its annual Country Fair Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Tricky Tray is a popular booth which showcases several dozen theme baskets ranging from movies and entertainment, local restaurants and wine, babies and kids, cosmetics and skin care, crafts, toys and spa treatments.
This year’s silent auction collectibles include several pieces of fine furniture, valuable jewelry, china and an antique weigh scale.
The Christmas booth will fulfill your holiday decorating, ornament and gift list ideas. You can also order traditional Christmas wreaths made from fresh pine, which will be available for pick-up at the church in early-December.
The Atonement Boutique is the place to find antique and vintage jewelry, crystals, figurines and decorative frames. The Silver Store will have sterling silver and gold jewelry as well as semi-precious bead bracelets at affordable prices. The Jewelry Maker station is also available to those who prefer to craft their own necklaces and bracelets of beads and stones.
The Opportunity Shop is the place to find new and gently used designer fashions, and its racks are jam-packed with a wide assortment for the entire family. Also back this year is the Linens and Lace booth filled with exciting new items and vintage wedding gowns.
And if shopping makes you hungry, our renowned Atonement Bakery and Chuck Wagon Luncheonette will satisfy your hunger. There will be a plentiful supply of fresh baked goods such as pies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes and tarts. If you are in the mood for lunch, enjoy some homemade chili and other hearty and delicious menu choices.

Nov. 9
Taste of the autumn harvest program set
TENAFLY — In this pre-Thanksgiving joint presentation Mike Krug, Program Director of the Weis Ecology Center, and Tenalfy Nature Center’s Environmental Educator, Jenna Tomiello will discuss the huge variety of food grown and sold locally.
The presentation will be Sunday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weis Ecology Center. It is intended for adults older than 18 only.
Find out why buying local not only brings us fresh food of high quality and taste, but also strengthens community, food security and creates a sustainable food culture. Come for the discussion, and stay for a tasting of traditional local dishes prepared by Ringwood’s Down Under Café.
There will also be produce for sale from the Farm in Closter and other local markets, plus recipes and a list of ways you can support local agriculture.
The program is held rain or shine and pre-registration is required. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Nov. 14
Jukebox Heroes Live show scheduled
BERGENFIELD — The Dumont High School Project Graduation 2009 committee will present a "Jukebox Heroes Live" show, featuring the Mahoney Brothers, Friday, Nov. 14 at Conlon Hall in Bergenfield.
Doors open at 7 p.m. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door.

Dec. 11
Learn about the owls of New Jersey
TENAFLY — Join naturalists from the Tenafly Nature Center and Weis Ecology Center for a hoot of a good time Thursday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
After an introduction inside, participants will meet some live nocturnal hunters, native to New Jersey. Outside, participants will be trained to listen for the stylish vocalizations of our local inhabitants.
The program is intended for adults and families with children 13 years or older, and will be held at Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave. Pre-registration required. Rain or shine.

Join family nature walks at center
TENAFLY — Enjoy the season during a leisurely guided walk along one of many trails with an environmental educator at the Tenafly Nature Center. The walks will be
Nov. 2 and Dec. 7 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Register for apple cider making before the October and November walks.
In case of inclement weather the program, which is intended for children and adults, will be cancelled.
No strollers are permitted and pre-registration is requested. The walks are free for members and $5 for nonmembers; children under 2 are free.

Tae Kwon do kicks off for all ages
CRESSKILL — Tae Kwon Do classes began Sept. 9 with instructor Nathan Delgado.
Delgado is an experienced martial artist, teacher, coach, fifth degree black belt and New Jersey State Champion.
Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cresskill Community Center. The classes are available for children in grade 1 to adults.
The cost is $100 for residents and $145 for non-residents.
