Patch and badge show scheduled
DEMAREST — Join fellow collectors in the Northern Valley Area to trade patches and display patch and badge collections.
The show will be held Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Demarest Ambulance Corps Building, 10 Wakelee Drive in Demarest.

TENAFLY — Travel back in time a few hundred million years, with an educator from Dinosaurs Rock as your guide at the Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave. Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Children, with a special adult, can see and touch a life-size T-rex skull, hunt for shark teeth, dig for fossils and break open crystal-filled geodes in an activity-filled afternoon.
Participants will take home real dinosaur bones and other fossils plus exotic minerals such as rubies and emeralds. The program is held rain or shine.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The cost is $110 for members and $135 for nonmembers per child-adult pair. For each additional family members, the cost is $50 for members and $65 for nonmembers.

NANBPWC observes 45th Founder’s Day
ENGLEWOOD — The public is invited to the 45th Annual Founder’s Day Commemoration of the Teaneck-Englewood and Vicinity Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. (NANBPWC).
This annual observance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Galilee United Methodist Church, 325 Genesee Ave., Englewood. The club was organized by Florence A. Holmes and chartered in October 1963. This year, the Founder’s Day Observation is dedicated to the memory of Virgie Haigler, the first president of the Teaneck-Englewood Club.
From its inception, the Teaneck-Englewood Club has been vigorous and active in community affairs with particular emphasis on scholarship assistance to youth. The club has distinguished itself through its contribution and commitment to the betterment of life with its local and international service programs in health, education and economic development.
In the annual Founder’s Day observance, the founders are honored, as are members of the community who exemplify noteworthy qualities and accomplishments. Four community individuals will receive awards this year. Receiving business awards are Elsworth James, Debra Jones and Patricia Moore Millet. Ardie D. Walser, Ph.D. will receive the Professional Award.
Cancer society’s breast cancer walk
PARAMUS — The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk will be Sunday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bergen Community College, Paramus.
The "Cresskill Cougar Bosom Buddies," Champions Fighting Breast Cancer, will be walking at the event. To join as a team member or to make a donation, visit makingstrides.acsevents.org.

Visitor’s Day at Greenbrook set
NORTHERN VALLEY — The Greenbrook Sanctuary on the Palisades in Tenafly and Alpine will open its gates Sunday, Oct. 26 for non-PNA members to explore and learn about its programs and the benefits of membership. Household membership is $50 per year.

Zonta's Autumn Celebration set
NORWOOD — The Zonta Foundation of Teaneck-Bergenfield and the Zonta Club of Northern Valley, invites you to join them for their 22nd annual fundraising event. The theme this year is "Zonta's Autumn Celebration — An Evening of Friendship and Fun."
The event will take place at the Colonial Inn, Norwood Tuesday, Oct. 28. The evening, starting at 5:30 p.m., includes a cash bar, cocktail hour, Tricky Tray, large and super prizes, dinner, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.
The proceeds go to the Zonta Service Fund benefiting recipients both locally and internationally. In the past several years, Zonta has raised and donated more than $180,000 through grants to worthy charities.

Wrtiers’ Group sets next meeting date
CRESSKILL — The Writers’ Group will hold its next meeting Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. at the Cresskill Congregational Church, 85 Union Ave., alongside the Cresskill Borough Hall and opposite King’s supermarket.
The Writers’ Group offers an informal "workshop in progress" for all interested persons throughout Bergen County and surrounding areas. All attending will have the opportunity to read and discuss their poems, as well as short stories, essays, parts of longer projects (such as novels or memoirs) or just to listen to others.
The programs are offered without charge.
The group normally meets the first Tuesday of the month. However, because of various scheduling conflicts, including Election Day, the October-November sessions are being combined. The group will return to the regular first-Tuesday schedule in December.

BCCAP holds dinner and fashion show
WOOD-RIDGE — Bergen County Community Action Partnership, Inc. (BCCAP) will be having its second annual fundraiser/gala dinner and fashion show Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Fiesta, 255 Highway 17 South in Wood-Ridge.
BCCAP is one of the leading community action agencies in the state, with a proven track record of more than 39 years. In line with its mission, "to change lives through education, economic opportunities, healthcare, housing and human services," the agency has been providing comprehensive quality services to low income residents of Bergen County.
For the second fundraiser fashion show, Talbots will provide the fashions for women’s and SARAR for men’s collections.
